COVID-19: Childcare for children aged 2-4 years

Eligible parents of children who are currently aged between 2 and 4 years (children of school nursery age or below) can apply for a childcare place that will begin on Monday 30 March 2020

Places should not be requested for children who, based on government advice, should be self-isolating or socially distancing.

Applications must be resubmitted every two weeks to allow those who are exiting social isolation to potentially access a place, and will enable sites across the city to adjust provision as their own staffing availability changes.

Eligibility:

  • single parents who are employed as specific key workers
  • where both parents are employed as specific key workers

Due to the limited capacity of childcare settings, initially places will only be considered for the following key worker groups:

  • Health and Social Care
  • Education and Childcare
  • Public Safety and National Security
  • Local and National Government (staff essential for the COVID-19 response)
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

Places will be allocated Monday 30 March to start childcare for new category parents on Tuesday 31 March
