‘Learning about caring; caring about learning’

Palm – Year 1

Thursday 18th November

Hello everyone. It was such a pleasure talking to families on the phone and so good to be able to tell you that your children are amazing. Thank you for all your support as always.

During the winter months we will continue to go outside even if weather is not so good so please send your child to school every other Wednesday in forest school clothes and uniform in a bag to change.

Next session is 2nd December . Thank you

Below is the planning menu for the next 2 weeks and I really do hope you engage in some of the activities. Please could you try to log onto Google classroom so we can keep the channels of communication open in case of a possible isolation at any time. This is the platform we will use should this happen. I have also added a red word mat that we use in class. These are the words that the children need to be able to read without sounding out. You can build them up gradually as they learn them a few at a time.

IMPORTANT

Please can children come to school in their Forest School clothes with their uniform in a bag to change afterwards. During the winter months it can be very wet and muddy and without suitable clothing and change of clothing it can be a challenge.

Our next Forest School will be Wednesday 18th November.

Thank you

                                                       Thursday 5th November

Morning everyone. We have been looking at new book this week in class called "Here we Are" by Oliver Jeffers. We will be using this book to be curious and explore. We are going to be secret investigators finding out about the Earth. Children are naturally curious with questions and this book allows for this perfectly.

The planning menu is attached below for the fortnight and I hope you will engage in the activities at home to practise skills and get involved in our project.

Can I ask that you have a go at logging into the Google classroom using the help guides and the password I sent home the week before half term please? Google classroom is new for me too and I am learning with you but I hope we can use it as a tool to make a stronger connection between school and home learning.

Below is a guide to access JIT Paint on HWB . The children have used this in class. Have a go at making a picture and saving it .

Hello all, today I am sending home a green exercise book which you can use to put any home learning into. I'm happy for you to bring this into school for me to celebrate with you.

Inside the book you will find a guide to access Google Classroom, your personal log in details and a guide showing how to use Google Classroom. The planning menu will be uploaded every two weeks and if you want to have go at any of the activities online you can.

Google Classroom is new to me so please bear with me as I learn alongside you.

Every class is now going to be using Google classroom as if any class is in self isolation at any time we have direct contact with your children to continue their learning.

Have a safe half term everybody x

PE will be on a Thursday

Could your child please wear their PE kit to school on this day to support the current social distancing measures that are in place.

Forest School will be every other Wednesday beginning on September 16th

Could you please provide your child with some wellies that ideally can be left in school. As the weather gets colder and wetter it will be necessary to provide a change of clothes for Forest School day.
