Millbrook Primary School

‘Learning about caring; caring about learning’

Millbrook - an ACE aware school

Learning about caring;

caring about learning

This is our visionary motto at Millbrook and it drives our mission to make a difference in the lives of the young people that we work with.

Our belief is that happy children learn and we work hard to help develop and improve the well-being of our children as without it they will not make good progress and learn.

What are ACEs?

‘Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are stressful experiences occurring during childhood that directly harm a child (e.g. sexual or physical abuse) or affect the environment in which they live (e.g. growing up in a house with domestic violence)’

Our Philosophy at Millbrook…

Happy children learn

To support the child effectively we must support the family

To support the family effectively, we must support and embrace the community

On site multi-agency support for families and the community supports us in this vision.

This is most effective when we engage with children & their families from a very early age.

By nurturing families and the community in this way we give our pupils the very best chance to achieve. This enables us to mitigate the impact of ACEs and help our children to succeed.

If you are interested in finding out more about ACEs click on one of the links below or look out for one of our training sessions for parents.
