Millbrook Primary School
‘Learning about caring; caring about learning’
Learning about caring;
caring about learning
This is our guiding motto at Millbrook, driving our mission to make a difference in the lives of the young people we work with.
We believe that happy children learn best, and we work tirelessly to enhance and support the well-being of our pupils. Without well-being, children cannot make good progress or learn effectively.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are stressful events occurring during childhood that directly harm a child (e.g. sexual or physical abuse) or affect the environment in which they live (e.g. growing up in a home with domestic violence) - Bellis et al, 2016.
Happy Children Learn: We prioritise the happiness and well-being of our children as a foundation for their learning.
Supporting the Family: To effectively support a child, we must also support their family.
Embracing the Community: To support families, we must embrace and engage with the community.
We provide on-site multi-agency support for families and the community, aligning with our vision. This support is most effective when we engage with children and their families from an early age. By nurturing families and the community, we give our pupils the best chance to achieve, mitigating the impact of ACEs and helping our children succeed.
