On Friday, 1st March 2013 we held our annual St. David’s Day celebrations with an eisteddfod which was a celebration of song, poetry and dance. The children were delighted to see their home culture work on display in the hall. We are very grateful to all families for their hard work and support.

Every class performed an item in front of the school which included Welsh recitation, Welsh drama and readings, Welsh songs and Welsh dance. Children wore their national costumes – it was lovely to see Muslim, Romanian and Polish outfits represented besides traditional Welsh dress.

Eisteddfod entries included: art, handwriting, recitation, home culture projects, music and creative writing. The Millbrook Team were very impressed – we certainly have a lot of talent at Millbrook.

Entries were judged and the first, second and third prize winners for each category was announced. The final item to be announced was the winner of the year 6 poetry competition. With the pseudonym Minnie Mouse, Chloe Price was announced the winner and chaired bard of the Eisteddfod 2013

Chloe’s winning poem was entitled “The Boar”

Llongyfarchiadau Chloe! Congratulations Chloe!

Points for winning entries were added to house totals. At the end of the eisteddfod. Ty Ruby were awarded the Millbrook Eisteddfod Trophy.
